Certifying Amazon Prime Video on RDK-V, End to End

Integrating a streaming app is one thing; taking a platform through the app owner’s certification is another. This post walks through what end-to-end Amazon Prime Video certification on RDK-V actually involves, based on taking the current-generation SDK to a letter of approval.

Certified on the current stack

Amazon Prime Video is certified on the current RyvrTech RDK-V stack – the latest Amazon Prime Video SDK, AVPK 6.2.1, running on the modernised RDK-V platform, with Amazon’s letter of approval received at the end of August 2026. YouTube is certified on the same stack. This is the current-generation SDK on a current platform, not a legacy integration carried forward.

The pipeline, end to end

  • Integration – bringing the latest Prime Video SDK onto the RDK-V stack and WPEFramework, and making it behave correctly against the platform’s media and output paths.
  • DRM and playback – PlayReady 4.0 and EME compliance, validated under real playback conditions.
  • Security hardening – a production security posture for the box: AppArmor MAC policy with per-app data isolation, so that even root cannot read a Premium App’s data. The mechanics are covered in the earlier posts on production AppArmor hardening and Premium App data protection.
  • Penetration testing – for a new platform, Amazon requires a penetration test as part of certification. This is targeted platform security validation – the RDK-V box and its security boundaries – not an audit of the third-party apps themselves.
  • Letter of approval – the sign-off that lets the platform ship with the app.

Delivered end to end, accepted on several platforms

The value in a certification engagement is owning the whole pipeline rather than handing off at the integration boundary. Ryvr Tech delivers this end to end – integration through penetration test to sign-off – and that process has been accepted on several platforms.
